Individual Therapy

There is an endless amount of reasons to reach out for help. It can be dealing with past hurts, relationship issues, mental health issues, work problems, or just wanting to create a richer and deeper meaningful life. Dr. Gail has experience helping people with a variety of needs. She works with adults in an individual or couples setting. The following are some of the issues she has helped people with.

Dr. Gail recognizes that there is not one type of therapy that will meet every issue or everyone’s needs. Therefore, therapy is personalized to meet the needs and goals of individuals and couples. Even though there are specific techniques (such as Natural Processing (integrating Somatic therapy and EMDR), Gottman Method, CISM) mentioned on the website, Dr. Gail offers a variety of therapy methods that can be used to help reach your goal.

Your First Step Toward Healing

It takes courage to call for an appointment and even more to walk through the door of a counselling office. Dr. Gail helps to reduce the anxiety by providing a calming and relaxing office. Some clients report that it is like sitting in a living room talking with someone who is willing to listen without judgement. The first session includes some paperwork, includes discussion of confidentiality, your goals, and contact information. The rest of the session is about getting to know you, relevant history, what you would like to achieve, and how we can make that happen.

It is about making a plan that is realistic for you, not the therapist.

That’s why Dr. Gail uses several different types of therapy models – there is no one method that works for every situation or person. Its difficult to say how many sessions are required for an issue. However, practicing skills learned during session may help the number of sessions required. It is about trusting the process and be willing to take the risk of being vulnerable during sessions.
